Photo Lithophanes
The word lithophane is Greek for "vision in stone" The art form of lithophane originated in France in the late 1800's as a porcelain engraving that comes alive when illuminated from behind. Since our lithophanes are carved from 1/4 inch very durable cultured stone material, they won't break, tear, fade in the sunlight or adhere to glass. They are personalized, one of a kind, 3-D back lighted images like none other. Once the photo like image is carved, it appears as a plain piece of white plastic with undetermined texture until light is applied behind it. That's when the 3-D effect is revealed. They make perfect gifts for all photo lovers and for the person who has everything and is looking for a unique treasure. Lithophanes are so unique they make for superb heirlooms and conversational pieces.
